Saint Francis Challenge is in the research and development phase of creating Resident Steward products that combine functional art, skill-building, community contribution, and economic-stability supports.

This program is being developed especially for adults without disabilities who are stabilizing from homelessness, need 80 participation hours per month to maintain SNAP/Medicaid, and may benefit from structured volunteer and training opportunities as a workforce-development or workforce-adjacent pathway.

Rather than creating hours simply for the sake of meeting a requirement, Resident Steward micro-enterprises create opportunities to learn a skill, make something useful or beautiful, contribute to the community, and build a record of participation and workforce readiness.

Halo Hats

Hand-sown fabric and our signature corner halo on trucker caps (Suggested donation: $25)

SFC is proud to have developed our first Resident Steward micro-enterprise product, Halo Hats, in collaboration with a former Resident Steward Trainee from our 2025–2026 Santa Fe pilot who is now housed. We are partnering with the Unhoused Art program of Vital Spaces to conduct a halo hat workshop in August at a Santa Fe men’s shelter. We hope to raise additional funds and build further connections to build our Halo Hat project in support of benefits retention and workforce development.
