Hardship Grant Application

Saint Francis Challenge works to end street homelessness and build a resident steward movement by creating places of Belonging, Essential Needs, Shared Agreements, and Teamwork.

The purpose of Saint Francis Challenge’s Hardship Grant is to support essential needs for individuals who have participated in Saint Francis Challenge resident stewardship activities and/or who provide services to people experiencing homelessness. These grants are intended to assist people who are currently or formerly experiencing unsheltered or sheltered homelessness, or who are at risk of housing instability, when a financial hardship threatens their housing stability, income stability, health, or overall well-being.

To be eligible for a hardship grant, an applicant must be 18 or older, currently or formerly experiencing unsheltered or sheltered homelessness, and must be a current or former participant in Saint Francis Challenge activities, including resident stewardship programming or volunteer-based efforts.

Grant awards are based on demonstrated hardship and whether the requested support relates to an essential need affecting the applicant’s stability, health, housing, or ability to move forward positively.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. There is no fixed deadline. Requests will be reviewed as they are received, based on available funds and the urgency of need.
